Nearly 50 women came out to the SCOTT Enduro Cup women’s skills clinics at Canyons Resort this summer.
On Sun., July 19, more than 20 women gathered for the first of two clinics. Lady pros Joy Brinkerhoff, Amanda Cordell and Ana Rodriguez shared their time, experience and skills with the clinic participants. The morning started with a brief presentation about proper body positioning and bike technique followed by a series of drills led by Brinkerhoff.
After popping wheelies, simulating steeps, corners and switchbacks, the clinic headed up to the bike park where the ladies were shown how to properly execute drops. Finally, the group split in two with half of the ladies riding off to work on jumps and corners on the Ricochet trail, while the others tackled the steep and rowdy Insurgent trail. At the end of the day, everyone gathered for apres with big smiles and a few extra tips.
Clinic participant Wendy Stein posted the following on Instagram, “Two summers ago, I watched a boyfriend race at the Canyons Enduro and was so jealous that he could ride all of the trails. I set a goal that when I could ride this trail [Insurgent] at speed, I’d race. The time has arrived!” And basically, that is what the clinic was designed to accomplish.

On Wed., Aug. 12, for the second women’s clinic, nearly 25 women gathered at Canyons resort. Despite the heavy rain, women were excited to learn and ride for round two of the Enduro Cup women’s clinic. Clinicians and Enduro Cup pros Teal Stetson-Lee, Joni Wirts, Illeana Anderson and Jen Hudak spent the evening leading and teaching the women all the tricks of the trade. The evening ended with a buffet-style social hour where the ladies enjoyed chatting about their shared love of mountain biking.
“The clinic was PHENOM!! I will be back next year and now have the desire to learn more before the snow flies.” —Jenelle Cobb, women’s clinic participant
